Sea Monster 2016: Mysterious Google Earth Image Fuels Speculation About Giant Creatures Of The Deep [VIDEO]
A Google Earth image taken in Antarctica's waters has captured the imagination of monster hunters and conspiracy theorists worldwide, with many stating that the picture, which appears to show a massive underwater creature breaching the sea, is visual proof that a giant "sea monster" remains alive to this day.
The image seemingly showing the sea monster was taken by satellite close to Deception Island in the South Shetlands. The image, which appears to be a fin sticking out of the water, is about 30 meters (100 feet) from end to end. Considering that only a part of the object could be seen, the creature, if it is indeed an animal, could be far bigger.
Of course, with an image like this, many have begun speculating about what the object might really be. Some allege that it is probably a giant squid, or even an animal similar to the Loch Ness monster.
Scott Waring of UFO Sighting Daily even fondly remarked that the image looks very much like an animal that could easily be considered as the fabled Kraken, a mythical sea monster that has captured the imagination of people for years.
"This looks like The Kraken. I used Google ruler and it says this is 30 meters from head to end, but the end looks just like the mid area of a giant squid which means it could be 60+ meters long with tentacles. That sounds like a Kraken to me," he stated.
Apart from the speculations suggesting that the fin in the image probably belongs to a fabled seas monster, other conspiracy theorists are speculating that the photo shows a part of an alien spacecraft that is breaching the ocean's surface.
As much as the image is interesting, however, others are speculating that the fin belongs to an equally large, yet more plausible animal, such as a blue whale or a very large sperm whale. Plus, the area has been known to be filled with massive rocks that jut out of the sea. Thus, the alleged sea monster might actually be something far less remarkable.
Until that is proven, however, the image would most probably still continue to command much interest from people all over the globe.
