Dancing With the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy has huge ambitions for his summer dancing tour.

Chmerkovskiy and his fellow ballroom dancing brother Maks Chmerkovskiy are on tour with Maks and Val Live on Tour: Our Way. The tour features the Chmerkovskiy brothers presenting their life story and performing various dancing routines.

While the show is a high-energy production, Val has huge ambitions for the show's potential.

"I want this show to do for ballroom dance what 'Hamilton' is doing for Broadway," Val said in a new interview with AJC.com. "It's a strong statement. I want it to feel organic and edgy. I want it to feel real."

Val added that the tour is "perfect timing" for both of them, admitting, "We have reached that moment where we know who we are and are finally realizing we could tell the story in the best way possible. It's been so incredibly therapeutic and reflective."

Val also spoke about how the show tells their story and how they both ended up on Dancing Wit the Stars.

"We narrate our journey from the Ukraine to New York City to Hollywood," he said. It's everything that led us to 'Dancing With the Stars.'"

While ballroom dancing had largely been out of style for years, it was Dancing With the Stars that propelled the now popular style to a national level.

"Ballroom dancing was nonexistent for many many years in terms of the public eye. With the success of a show like 'Dancing With the Stars,' overnight we became relevant," Val said.

Maks and Val are currently on tour - you can find dates here.

Maks joined the show in season 2, and while he was a finalist numerous times throughout his run, it wasn't until season 18 that he finally won - after which he retired as a pro with the show. Val joined in season 13 and similarly placed in the finals many times before winning in season 20. He most recently came in third place with Ginger Zee.

Dancing With the Stars is set to return Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT this fall on ABC.
