Cat Cora DUI: Iron Chef Star Avoids Jail Time
Celebrity chef Cat Cora will not be facing jail time for last summers DUI. The 45-year-old Iron Chef star pleaded no contest to driving with a blood alcohol of .08 or higher, reports TMZ.
Last June, Cora was arrested after rear-ending a vehicle in Santa Barbara, Calif. Following the collision, the driver of the other vehicle videotaped her as proof of her intoxication, a decision that didn't go over well with the Around the World in 80 Plates co-host. According to the video obtained by TMZ, Cora can be heard insulting the other driver, calling them a nerd.
After police arrived at the scene, Cora blew a .20 and a 19 on a breathalyzer, reports Access Hollywood.
Although Cora may not be serving any time behind bars, she faces 3 years of probation and nine moths of DUI school after paying $2,386 in fines. There is also a 120-day suspended jail sentence which goes into effect if the chef fails to fulfill the other requirements, according to People.
"I deeply regret my decision to drive that evening after my designated driver became unavailable," Cora said in a post-accident statement, according to Access Hollywood. "I learned a very important lesson from this experience and take full accountability for my actions. This will never happen again."
