The two suspects connected to Monday's Boston Marathon bombing are Russian-born Chechen brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, and the latter is still on the run.

Tamerlan, 26, died following a shootout with police on Thursday night in Boston. Law enforcement officials told NBC News the brothers entered the United States with family in 2002 or 2003. Tamerlan became a legal permanent resident in 2007.

Dzhokhar, 19, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the city of Cambridge, Mass., to pursue higher education following high school, according to The Associated Press. He and his brother lived together on Norfolk Street in Cambridge, an uncle, Ruslan Tsarni of Montgomery Village, Md., confirmed.

Dzokhar reportedly posted a video of himself on YouTube.

Dzokhar is reportedly on a Russian social media service Vkontakte, similar to Facebook. A profile believed to be his was under the name "Djohar Tsarnaev." His page says he attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. He graduated in 2011, the same year he won the scholarship, AP reported. Before moving to the United States he attended School No. 1 in Makhachkala, Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim republic in Russia. According to his profile he speaks Chechen as well as English and Russian. His views are described as "Islam" and he says his personal goal is "career and money."

Tamerlan was shot by police and brought to Beth Israel Medical Center as he was under cardiac arrest with multiple gunshot wounds on Thursday night following a shootout with police. His brother fled the shootout and a manhunt for him is under way.

"We believe this to be a terrorist," said Boston police Commissioner Ed Davis. "We believe this to be a man who has come here to kill people. We need to get him into custody."
