Munich Shooting Update: Police Searching For Mall Gunmen, Number Of Victims Unknown [VIDEO]
A shooting at the Olympia Shopping Mall in Munich, Germany has led to police actively trying to find gunmen on the loose on what is suspected to have been a terror attack.
According to CNN, gunfire broke out at a McDonald's restaurant across from the mall around 5:50 p.m. Munich time, in addition to inside the mall. Witnesses reportedly said they saw at least three people with guns. At least one gunman escaped, prompting a search.
"The manhunt is underway at high speed," police reportedly said. "Because of the unclear situation we ask all people in the city area to stay at home or to look for protection in any nearby building. The operation of public transportation service has been stopped."
At least five are reported dead, though the number has not been confirmed.
Witness video has turned up on social media of people running from the scene after the shooting began.
The attack comes at a time of high alert for European countries. In the last week, a truck plowed into a group of people in Nice, France as they were celebrating Bastille Day, killing over 80 people. Earlier this week, a teen who claimed to be inspired by ISIS also stabbed passengers on a German train before he was shot dead by police.
ISIS soldiers also killed 31 in an attack in Brussels, Belgium, back in March, and Omar Mateen, a shooter who killed 49 at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida in June, also pledged allegiance to the militant group shortly before carrying out his attack.
