'Dodgeball' Sequel Reportedly in the Works
It's time to grab life by the balls...again.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it looks as if a sequel to 2004's Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is in the works from Fox and Ben Stiller's Red Hour.
Dodgeball was a comedic titan, netting a profit of over five times its production cost, reports The Hollywood Reporter. With a hit like that, the followup has to be something spectacular.
Although Clay Tarver, writer of Joy Ride, already has several projects in the works with Disney and Red Hour, he has taken on the task of penning the new script, according to MovieWeb.
While the original film featured Peter LaFleur (Vince Vaughn) going up against White Goodman (Ben Stiller) in a battle to keep LaFleur's gym from being consumed by a corporate chain, the new film may see the pair working together reports EW.
"The great opportunity is that those guys ended still completely at odds," Traver told EW. "And now they'll have to work together, which will be really fun,"
While the project is still in its early stages - Crave states that Traver is set to create the script within the next few months - fans who enjoyed watching the underdogs weave and dodge 10 years ago now have a little glimmer of hope for more.
