George Clooney Gets Surprisingly Low Salary
George Clooney is a bonafide star. But when he sat down with The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed that his life is much like that of any other 50-year-old: Clooney deals with chronic pain from an accident in 2005, has trouble sleeping, and sometimes feels lonely. Nominated for two Oscars this year, Clooney reveals his more humble side, starting with his paycheck.
The Hollywood A-lister received a mere $300,000 for a part in Best Picture Oscar nominee The Descendants, an indie film with a $20 million budget. The light paycheck isn't anything new; since raking in $10 million for The Perfect Storm in 2000, he now rarely accepts more than scale -- a couple hundred thousand per flick at most.
At the box office, the last of his projects to have earned more than $100 million domestically was 2007's Ocean's Thirteen. For 2005's Good Night, and Good Luck, which he directed, co-wrote and starred in, his payday was $120,000. The movie made $31.5 million. The report states Clooney recently turned down $15 million for one project.
