The trailer for Emma Watson’s next film - where she sheds her good girl image - was released on Wednesday.

In the real-life story The Bling Ring, Watson plays a student part of a group of teens who rob the homes of several Hollywood starlets including Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom and Lindsay Lohan. In the preview footage Watson sheds the image of her Harry Potter character Hermione by smoking marijuana and dancing on a stripper pole.

The film focuses on the ring of bandits who break into the homes of celebrities and steals their expensive goods. The 22-year-old actress plays Alexis Neiers, who was charged with first degree burglary and sentenced to 180 days in jail. She was also given three years of probation for breaking into Bloom’s home in 2009.

Watson discussed her The Bling Ring character in her recent British GQ cover story.

"The character is everything that I felt strongly against -- she's superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral," she said. "She's all of these things and I realized that I hated her. How do you play someone you hate? But I found it really interesting and it gave me a whole new insight into what my job, or my role as an actress, could be."

"I knew it would be a really uncomfortable thing to do, but I felt… I had to dive into something really different," she added. "This has been a really big departure for me; it's a really big character. That's so exciting for me because it meant I was really acting."

Bling Ring also features Leslie Mann, Taissa Farmiga, Gavin Rossdale, Katie Chang and Claire Julien. The film arrives in theaters nationwide on June 14. Prior to its release, it will be screened at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival when it runs in France from May 15- May 26.
