After months of speculation, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting news has finally picked up. It's being reported that Magic Mike's Alex Pettyfer has been chosen to play the part of Christian Grey while Hunger Games' Jennifer Lawrence is apparently now the frontrunner to nab the Anastasia Steele role.
According to Hollywood Life, Magic Mike's Alex Pettyfer has been confirmed to play the part of the S & M-crazed billionaire.
It was recently revealed by The Wrap that high profile director Gus Van Sant had shot a teaser scene from the erotica that portrayed the 23-year-old as Grey.
The respective scene featured Pettyfer portraying Christian as he took an unidentified Anastasia Steele's virginity.
In terms of Steele chatter, a source of the site stated that Lawrence is now number one on the Fifty Shades production team's wish list.
In January, Vanity Fair reported that one million men feel that the 22-year-old is the "world's most desirable woman." To top it off, she's the same age as the Anastasia character, and has the shy, innocent beauty that can easily pull off the part.
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is in the midst of penning the movie script, had stated that the flick would be staying true to the book with lots of sex and raunchiness, as the producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style Magazine.
Although the producers have yet to officially attach a director to the franchise, Fifty Shades of Grey is slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014. The film will be shot in London.
