Jessica Simpson's Parents Divorce Finalized; Tina and Joe Split Due to 'Conflict of Personalities'
Jessica Simpson's parents, Joe and Tina, are officially divorced.
After 34 years of marriage, a judge dissolved the union. The proceedings began in September 2012 when Tina filed paperwork in McLennan County, Texas to end her marriage to the former pastor. She filed the petition on the grounds of "discord or conflict of personalities."
Reps for Joe and Tina have not made any comment about the divorce being granted.
The two married in Texas in 1978 and together had daughters Jessica and Ashlee Simpson. They have two grandchildren between their daughters and one more on the way, as Jessica is expecting another child this summer.
At the time of the divorce filing, the separated spouses released a joint statement to People
"It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved," their rep said. "Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."
The allegations in question were that Joe was gay and involved with 21-year old male model Bryce Chandler Hill. The accusations about Joe's sexual orientation first surfaced in the National Enquirer in October 2012.
"Joe Simpson being outed by the National Enquirer was no surprise to the gay community in Hollywood, Bryce has been bragging about hooking up with Joe for a while now," a source said at the time. "Bryce claims he's been dating Joe for roughly a year and absolutely loves to boast about it because he loves being the center of attention. He's also been quick to tell anyone that will listen that he's using Joe to climb the showbiz ladder."
The rumors were fueled by Joe's change in appearance after he dyed his hair platinum blonde and wore tighter fitting clothes. However, he reportedly blasted the speculation about his sexual orientation in November of 2012. Sources said he denied being gay, and Joe said the rumors are "ridiculous," TMZ reported.
Some refused to believe him and the website noted that many think he is just not ready for a public reveal.
