As it turns out, there are very compelling reasons for Apple fans to be excited about the upcoming release of the 2016 MacBook Pro. In a statement to Bloomberg, insiders who are familiar with the development of the device have stated that the tech giant is preparing for the first significant overhaul of the MacBook Pro in over four years.

The MacBook Pro, Apple's powerhouse laptop, last received a notable upgrade back in 2012, when the Cupertino-based tech giant opted to equip the machine with a Retina display. Since then, however, the upgrades to the line have been very incremental, with minor processor and memory bumps being introduced every year.

As the company's sales begin to decline, however, it seems like Apple is finally realizing that the MacBook Pro line is one of its most lucrative and successful products. Indeed, many firms today still use their aging MacBook Pros on a daily basis, due to their reliability and tendency to be fairly resilient to viruses and similar threats.

According to the sources, the 2016 MacBook Pro could include several features that have been rumored for months, such as the multi-function touch OLED bar that is designed to replace the traditional Function Keys in laptops. This OLED bar would simplify keyboard shortcuts, showing media controls when iTunes or Spotify is open and showing editing commands like cut and paste when the word processing programs are being utilized.

The sources further state that the 2016 MacBook Pro would have a smaller footprint than its predecessor, though the machine would not be tapered like the 2016 MacBook and the 2015 MacBook Air. Nevertheless, the 2016 MacBook Pro would allegedly be equipped with a case with shallower curves and edges, resulting in a very sleek and thin device.

Apart from these, the insiders also stated that the new laptop's Force Touch trackpad would be slightly wider, allowing users to have more real estate for gestures and other functions.

The 2016 MacBook Pro would also allegedly be equipped with a high-performance graphics chip from AMD, as well as a high-powered Intel processor.

The Insiders further stated that the 2016 MacBook Pro would, unlike its previous iterations, come in different color variations, such as gray, gold and the traditional silver color scheme. The machine would also be utilizing USB Type-C technology, though it is unclear if it would result in the removal of a number of useful ports, such as what Apple did for its MacBook line.

Unsurprisingly, Apple has not confirmed nor denied these latest rumors. Considering the sales slump that the tech giant's devices have been experiencing as of late, however, the possibility that Apple might be going for broke with the 2016 MacBook Pro is very high.
