On Thursday, after prosecutor Juan Martinez rested his rebuttal case and Judge Sherry Stephens booted juror no. 8 from the near four-month trial.
Enstars reported that juror no. 8 is 52 year-old Daniel Gibb, who lives in the Gilbert area in Arizona. According to AZ Central, Gibb was pulled over by police on April 20 in his neighborhood for suspicion of "extreme DUI." The arresting officer said during his questioning with Gibb, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, that he revealed that he was one of the jury members on Arias' trial.
Gibb has come forward and discussed his disappointment with being booted from the trial.
"I did want to stay on the jury," Gibb told Radar Online. "I didn't want to leave the trial."
Gibb said he will continue to follow the trial which has been going on for nearly four months and almost coming to a close.
"I am going to keep following it," he added.
On Tuesday, Gibb's arresting officer was called in to court for a "sealed proceeding" with Judge Stephens in the Maricopa County courtroom to discuss the arrest. On Thursday, Gibb was released from the jury.
Gobb is the third juror to be removed from the trial in the past month. The jury now has 9 men, six women and three alternates. The fifteen will decide Arias' fate- if she is found not or guilty of first-degree murder or manslaughter.
Juror no. 11 was removed earlier this month due to an illness and Arias' defense attorney, Kirk Nurmi filed a request for a mistrial and the removal of juror No. 5 because she said prejudiced statements in front of her fellow juror, according to earlier reports.
