Americans may not think too much about the fact that almost every time they sit down to watch something on TV, they will see at least one commercial advertising them a prescription medication for every possible condition they could have, from erectile dysfunction, to pain, heart problems, blood clots, depression, restless leg syndrome, or even to help them grow more eyelashes.
But this isn't so commonplace in the rest of the world, where these kinds of ads are actually illegal, meaning they never show up in television, or in any other form of advertising medium, at all.
So why is that it happens all the time in the U.S., and that we wind up seeing so many more of them than we might realize?
