Surface Phone News: Microsoft's First Homegrown Flagship Phone To Feature Detachable Keyboard, Insane Specs? [VIDEO]
Rumors about the Microsoft Surface Phone have been making the rounds on the internet lately, with speculated specs, features and the device's upcoming release date becoming a very popular topic not only among Microsoft fans, but among smartphone fans as a whole.
The Surface Phone is coming, and it is poised to make a very big splash when it does.
Surface Phone Rumors: Specs
Considering that the Surface Phone is Microsoft's first homegrown foray into the flagship smartphone business, the expectations for the device are extremely high. With the notable success of the Surface line over the years, the Surface Phone would have to fill in some pretty big shoes.
If rumors are to be believed, however, the Surface Phone would indeed be up for the job. Speculations about the device's specs are encouraging, with rumors stating that the Surface Phone would pack Intel Kaby lake processors matched with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
With specs like these, the Surface Phone would not look out of place at all when placed beside Microsoft's esteemed Surface line, such as the Surface Book and the Surface Pro 4.
Surface Phone Rumors: Features
With the rumored device's Surface brand, numerous fans are speculating that the Surface Phone would feature a kickstand and a compatible keyboard accessory. However, these features have received polarizing reviews from fans.
Numerous fans of the Surface line have voiced out their reservations about the possibility of the Surface Phone having a dedicated keyboard case, just like the one that is utilized in the Surface Pro devices. This is due to the Surface Phone's rumored size, which is speculated to be around the 5.5-inch to 6.0-inch range. Making a keyboard accessory for a smartphone has always been tricky, after all.
As for the rumored kickstand, however, fans have been unanimous in the notion that the feature would be very useful in the device, especially since rumors of the Surface Phone being compatible with the Surface Pen have been abounding.
The release date for the Surface Phone has not been confirmed by Microsoft as of date. However, speculations are high that the device would be unveiled sometime within the following months or during the first quarter of 2017.
