Julia Roberts Refuses to Attend Sister's Wedding Since She Dislikes the Groom?
Julia Roberts reportedly refused to attend her sister's wedding, let alone be a bridesmaid.
The Mirror Mirror actress decided not to attend the affair because she reportedly dislikes the groom and feels she will be asked to pay for the wedding. Her half-sister, Nancy Motes, will tie the knot with John Dilbeck this year, and Roberts doesn’t want to be involved in any of it.
"Julia not only said 'No,'- she's even refusing to go as a guest," said a source. “Julia doesn’t think much of Nancy’s husband-to-be. She’s convinced he’s sponging off Nancy, who doesn’t have much money in the first place.”
The couple moved from Georgia to Los Angeles after Motes got a job as a production assistant on Glee, which Roberts helped her land through the show's creator Ryan Murphy.
The two sisters had gotten into a few arguments over the years, with Roberts lashing out Motes in 2005 for taking photos of her then- newborn twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel, in the actress’ house in Taos, New Mexico. In 2011, they got into an argument when Roberts made derogatory comments about her sister’s weight.
“Now, Julia won’t go to her wedding because she’s worried Nancy will try to tap her for more money,” said the insider.
Motes’s mom, Berry Motes, is trying to help the girls get along before her daughter's wedding.
According to The National Enquirer, Dilbeck proposed to Nancy in front of the cast and crew members on the Hollywood set of Glee.
