Mariah Carey Drops Randy Jackson as Manager; 'American Idol' 2013 Judge Helped Her Score $18 Million Deal with FOX (VIDEO)
Randy Jackson, who helped his client Mariah Carey land the judge gig at American Idol season 12, was relieved of his management duties to her.
Jackson helped negotiate Carey's $18 million deal with the FOX network after a near 20-year relationship with the Billboard chart-topping singer. Jackson has been Carey's manager since 2011.
Carey released a new single, #Beautiful and signed with Red Light Management, according to Show Biz 411. The company also handles business for Tim McGraw, Alicia Keys, Faith Hill and Radiohead.. Shortly after the multi-Grammy winner parted ways with Jackson over "hectic" schedules.
Jackson and Carey first met in the 1990s when he was A&R for Columbia Records. He produced two songs for Carey's Glitter album, which was released in 2001.
Carey's song, #Beautiful, features Miguel, who also wrote and produced the song. It is the first single off her upcoming and 14th studio album. The album will reportedly be released between late June and early July following the release of Kanye West's album, which is rumored to come out on June 18.
Carey will appear in her third film this year, The Butler, which is directed by Lee Daniels. Carey worked with Daniels previously on the Academy Award-winning film Precious.
