Lamar Odom Breaks from Basketball to Care for Ill Father
Dallas Mavericks basketball star Lamar Odom is taking time off from the game to spend time with his ill father.
Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle told ESPN Wednesday night ahead of a game against the Los Angeles Lakers that his player wouldn't be suiting up.
"He has been excused to tend to a family matter," Carlisle said."He will rejoin us after the (All-Star) break."
Lamar has previously said on Khloe & Lamar, the reality show he shares with wife Khloe Kardashian, that his father, Joe Odom, is a drug addict.
Joe Odom told Radar Online yesterday that although the undisclosed illness has left him "distressed" and "depressed," he's "doing a lot better."
"Khloe and Lamar were really upset about the news about Joe," a source told Radar Online. "They're putting their schedules on hold right now to be there for him."
