Shakira Baby Weight Loss: 'The Voice' Judge Wondered If She Will Be Sexy Again After Having Her Son [VIDEO]
Shakira, one of the new judges on The Voice, wonders if she would ever get her famous curves back after giving birth.
The Hips Don't Lie singer gave birth to Milan on January 22 in Barcelona, Spain, her first child with her soccer player beau, Gerard Piqué. She appeared on the Friday episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show as part of a Mother's Day special and shared details of her labor experience, joking that her son was purple and wrinkled when he was born.
"Delivering a baby is not as idyllic as people make it seem. Don't expect that he is going to be rosy cheeks, cherub when he is born," she said.
The 36-year old added that she was in for a shock when she saw her body post-delivery. The Latin superstar wondered if she would ever feel sexy again and also questioned whether Piqué would ever desire her again.
"I was like, 'Oh my God. Am I ever going to be sexy again?' " she told DeGeneres. "Is my man ever going to feel attracted to me again the way he used to be?' "
Shakira has been candid about getting her body back into its pre-baby shape. At the NBC Summer Press Day on April 22, she told US Weekly some of the struggles she faced with her weight. Shortly after the birth of her son, she had to begin taping for The Voice.
Her career and how she was perceived weighed heavily on her. She noted how her grandmother and mother were never under any pressure to shed their baby pounds immediately after birth.
"I have a career, and that's the only part that's been a bit stressful because I knew that I'd have to come back here to do The Voice two months after I delivered a baby," Shakira said.
Shakira said at the time that she was doing the exercise regimen Zumba, which she even did while pregnant. Most of her free time, however, has been spent caring for Milan. She called him a great baby, but he still takes a lot of energy out of her.
"I'm really enjoying every bit of it. It's just that it's not as idyllic as everybody tells you, but also not as horrible as everyone tells you," she said.
