Space Jam officially turns 20 today, but the film lives on in the hearts and minds of fans of all ages.

It is 20 years to the day that Space Jam was released in theaters. The film has since become the pinnacle of '90s kids nostalgia, combining Looney Tunes with basketball legend Michael Jordan and an instantly iconic song, R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly".

If you want to commemorate the 20-year anniversary of Space Jam and don't already own it on DVD or Blu-ray (or your worn-out VHS copy), there are multiple ways to watch it online. Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, YouTube and PlayStation all have the movie available to rent for $2.99.

Some may not remember that Space Jam wasn't the first instance of Jordan and Bugs Bunny sharing the screen together. The duo appeared in a Nike ad together which was shown at the Super Bowl a couple years before Space Jam and proved to be a huge hit.

"We had a tough time getting it together," director Joe Pytka told Entertainment Weekly. "We fought with Warner Bros. for months, trying to modernize Bugs' character for the commercial. They finally came around to accepting what we wanted to do, we then did the spot, and it was a huge success on the Super Bowl, which meant that it was a nice bit of research for Warner Bros. to understand that the Bugs character still had relevance and to tie it in with Michael."

Pytka would direct Space Jam as well and found other difficulties with filling out the supporting cast, due to the subject matter.

"We had a hard time casting a lot of the minor characters because people just didn't want to be in a movie with Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny," Pytka recalled. "I mean, they're going to work with an animated character and an athlete - are you serious? They just didn't want to do it."

Luckily, the film came together and has lasted 20 years through TV reruns and older generations passing on their love of the film to their young ones.
