Best Snacks to Keep By Your Desk At Work
We all have different methods for dealing with a particularly crappy workday. Some of us opt for a second (or third, or fourth) cup of coffee. Some head to the vending machine in the break room and pick up a packet of Skittles or M&Ms. Some of us get another lunch, and then spend the rest of the day hating yourself.
Instead of noshing on another full meal or giving in to your junk food craving, keeping an easy to munch on snack is sure to make you feel a little bit less like the world is crashing down around you.
Here are some of our faves:
Fresh (or dry) fruit: They pack plenty of fiber and potassium, and are sweet enough to curb your sugar craving.
Low-fat popcorn: I personally love popcorn made with avocado oil, because I feel way less guilty shoveling handfuls of the stuff in my mouth.
Roasted edamame: High in both protein and fiber, it's a deskside must-have.
Veggie juice: It's easy for us to confuse thirst for hunger, so if you're feeling a bit peckish, try sipping on tomato juice or a yummy vegetable-blend juice.
Frozen banana: Dreaming of ice cream? Try a frozen banana instead -- it's packed with glucose, which is basically brain food.
String cheese: That's right! It's high in protein and has just enough fat to curb any cravings.
Hard-boiled egg: Protein-packed greatness. Just eat this one in the office kitchen and spare your deskmate the offensive smell.
