Nine Inch Nails bassist Eric Avery who used to play with Jane's Addiction, left the band on Wednesday posting an emotional note on his Facebook page.

Avery was scheduled to tour with Nine Inch Nails this summer for the band's 2013-14 world concert series set to kick off on July 26 at the Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba, Japan, and including dates in South Korea, the U.S., and Europe, according to the band's website. The band will also be playing at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 2nd.

Avery called his decision "a tough call."

"Its with very mixed emotions i tell you all that im pulling out of NIN. i know. its been a tough call and i don't know if its the right one. but i really want to focus on my musical life here in la, on film work in particular. as the tour dates kept growing... i just got overwhelmed," he wrote in a post on Facebook.

"i just got home from a year of heavy travel with garbage, the idea of leaving town for another year and a half, and with all the intensity that nails demands... fortunately my friend Trent understands all this and appreciated my pulling the plug now instead of deep into 2013 and 14. go get em gentlemen," he added in the post.

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor announced the band's comeback in February with a new lineup featuring AVery, King Crimson's Adrian Belew, Telefon Tel Aviv's Josh Eustis, Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin.

Avery played with Jane's Addiction original members and rejoined the band in 2008. He has also played with Garbage for their fifth album Not Your Kind of People.
