A fan got a little too close for comfort with Justin Bieber in Barcelona, and the singer responded by appearing to punch the fan in his face.

Bieber, who is currently on the European leg of his Purpose Tour and was fresh off a concert in Italy which was live-streamed to the American Music Awards on Sunday as a dual performance, was in Barcelona Tuesday for another concert. As he was driven to the venue, a male fan came up to the car he was in and stuck his hand in through the open window and kept running alongside the car with Bieber. A few seconds later, an arm covered in a white sleeve (Bieber was wearing a white shirt), is seen moving out the window and punching the fan in the face.

The fan was left with a bloody lip after the encounter.

In a video of the incident, obtained by TMZ, the fan appears to be stunned and confused afterwards, and when he meets up with his friends, seems to be telling them that when he reached in and touched the singer's face (by rubbing his own cheek) he responded by punching him.

Bieber has not spoken up about the incident publicly.

The singer has been making a bit of a comeback in the last year after a host of legal troubles and other questionable behaviors that landed him in some hot water back in 2014. That year saw the singer land in trouble because an assault on a limo driver in Canada, a DUI arrest in Florida, an investigation into an egg-throwing incident in California, and for doing some graffiti in Brazil.

However, his issues did appear to affect his Purpose tour a bit this year, with the singer unable to tour in Argentina due to an assault case there stemming from 2013, when one of his bodyguards allegedly assaulted a photographer. The case there is still pending, and though a warrant for questioning for the singer was revoked in 2015, he has been wary of returning to the country in case the judge once again issues a warrant for the case.
