Although fans of CBS' Big Bang Theory know full well that they can expect more than a handful of intellectual laughs everytime they tune into the nerdy TV sitcom, they'll apparently be in for a pleasant surprise when Thursday's finale cliffhanger is revealed.

Actor Simon Helberg, who plays the role of Howard, recently came clean to the Associated Press that Leonard (Johnny Galecki) will be receiving a job opportunity that will require him to ship out to sea with Stephen Hawking's men on a North Sea boat for four months.

The respective predicament could clearly have an impact on his relationship with Penny (Kaley Cuoco). However, Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) relationship with Leonard could also suffer a blow, as the former doesn't want him to leave for an extended period of time.

Helberg also gave the show kudos for its continued success and constant character building.

"I think we're all having a good time. And I think the show is far from being stale. It is kind of constantly - not reinventing itself - but just expanding on these characters. So, yeah, I think we're going strong for now, as long as people keep inviting us in," Helford said.

The Big Bang Theory will be airing it's Season 6 finale on Thursday, May 16 at 8/7 p.m. Central. Keep checking back for more of the latest details on the upcoming season.
