Drake News: 'Hotline Bling' Singer Doesn't Show Up At Club Despite Being Paid $250,000? [VIDEO]
Drake was slated to appear at a party after the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Festival this weekend but did not end up showing up.
The R&B superstar was reportedly paid about $250,000 to appear at the VIP ROOM after the Grand Prix Festival but chose not to do so. The reason? Too many people showed up!
"Due to Drake's overwhelming popularity, the sheer number of people that turned up outside of the VIP Room made it completely unsafe for Drake to even enter the venue in the end; so he was unable to perform," representatives for the club told the Mirror.
The report also claimed that Drake's management team had some disagreements with the club before he was slated to appear.
"His management had an argument with the management of Abu Dhabi pop-up nightclub VIP ROOM last night and he didn't turn up for an appearance that he'd been paid £200k for," a source told the publication.
Drake was apparently set to appear at the club again on Sunday.
Drake is fresh off winning four American Music Awards, including Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for Views, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Song for "Hotline Bling" and Favorite Soul/R&B Song for his feature on Rihanna's "Work".
The musician may have called someone out during one of his acceptance speeches at the ceremony - with some speculating that he may have been referring to Kanye West.
"For our genre I'd just like to keep things exciting and keep making music. Shoutout to everybody who trying to do the same thing. More life is comin' soon, more truth for your head top so watch how you speak on my name, you know?" he said.
That "watch how you speak on my name" line could be a reference to West's then-recent rant about him, Beyonce, Hillary Clinton and many more at a recent concert.
