Vampire Diaries co-stars and exes Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder had an awkward reunion in New York City on Thursday.

The two CW stars were onstage together for the CW Upfront event barely a week after it was reported that the couple had stopped seeing one another reports omg.

After dating for several years, the couple called it quits in early May. However, the duo is still planning on working together on the next season. Filming doesn't start up again until the summer, and the pair seems to need a little more time apart.

According to the Daily News, a source claimed the former couple "seemed friendly - - not awkward at all."

Sources for omg have a different take on the day's events. After not interacting on the red carpet, some claim that when the pair took the stage with CW president Mark Pedowitz there was a "palpable awkwardness."

The Vampire Diaries is poised to head into its fourth season on the CW. When the 24-year-old Dobrev and the 34-year-old Somerhalder head back to work on set together they plan to keep it professional.

A source previously told Us Weekly that they will "continue to work together and remain best friends, which is where the relationship started."
