Juan Pablo Galavis 2016: 'Bachelor' Star Resurfaces In 'The Voice's Meghan Linsey's New Music VIDEO
Juan Pablo Galavis has had his fair share of love and heartbreak in real life, and now he's drawing on some life experience in a new music video for a fellow reality star.
The Voice season 8 runner-up Meghan Linsey enlisted Galavis to star in her new music video for "Exes and Friends", allowing the Latin hunk to show off his acting skills. The video features Linsey and Galavis playing exes who meet again at a party, and all the complicated feelings that arise between them.
As Linsey sings in the chorus, "Somewhere between exes and friends, that's where we are ... somewhere between happy endings and broken hearts," noting that they are "walking that fine line," and not clear on exactly what she and her lover are.
"I have never been so proud of a video. Everything came together so effortlessly and I got to work with some incredibly talented people," Linsey gushed to Entertainment Tonight.
Linsey took inspiration from the ABC country music drama Nashville when writing "Exes and Friends", telling Billboard: "During the writing of the song, we were actually watching the finale of 'Nashville', and Gunnar said to Scarlett at the end of the episode, 'We're somewhere between exes and friends.' That's where the title came from. But I think we've all been in these relationships where you break up and then you have to hang out, because you have all the same friends, and it's awkward, and then you end up back together, or it's kind of this weird middle space."
The song is a bit of a departure from Linsey's usual country style. The singer performed numerous country songs during her stint on The Voice in 2015 and was previously part of the country music duo Steel Magnolia. This time around, Linsey went for a poppier, doo-wop vibe, much like another popular musical Meghan -- Meghan Trainor.
"We went through a few different versions of it, as far as production. We did a more country version, but I've been experimenting more with the pop thing, and thought, 'I really just want to make a pop record.'" she said. "So we went back in till it finally all worked out. I've never been so comfortable with the music I'm making and the sound and the aesthetic."
