Amy Schumer 2016: Comedian Fights Back Against 'Barbie' Fat-Shamers, Wants To 'Lead By Example' [VIDEO]
Amy Schumer has plenty to be excited about, but she is still fighting against critics and tolls on the internet.
Schumer was just nominated for two Grammys, for Best Comedy Album (for Live at the Apollo) and Best Spoken World Album (for The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo). She was also recently announced to be in talks to possibly play iconic doll Barbie in a live action movie.
As is often the case, though, Schumer is battling negative comments on the internet, especially those who have criticized the possibility of her playing Barbie.
The comedian/actress took to Instagram on Tuesday and posted a photo of herself in a black swimsuit walking on the beach, with an open and honest caption.
"Very very honored to be nominated for 2 Grammys and to be considered to play an important and evolving icon," she wrote in the caption. "Is it fat shaming if you know you're not fat and have zero shame in your game? I don't think so. I am strong and proud of how I live my life and say what I mean and fight for what I believe in and I have a blast doing it with the people I love. Where's the shame? It's not there. It's an illusion."
She took note of all the strides she has made in her career through her standup comedy, her TV show and movies, and thanked her supportive fans.
"Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support and again my deepest sympathy goes out to the trolls who are in more pain than we will ever understand. I want to thank them for making it so evident that I am a great choice. It's that kind of response that let's you know something's wrong with our culture and we all need to work together to change it," Schumer wrote.
The Barbie movie centers on the iconic doll, who gets the boot from Barbieland and is forced to survive in the real world.
