Kanye West 'New Slaves' Video Replay From Around the World-Premieres Song on Buildings in 10 Cities
Kanye West launched a large scale, inventive marketing scheme last night to the surprise of fans. The rapper projected his face and music onto 66 buildings around the world, getting people into the streets and onto social media sites while reping his work.
The plan was kicked off by a tweet from the rather quite Twitter user.
"NEW SONG AND VISUAL FROM MY NEW ALBUM BEING PROJECTED TONIGHT ACROSS THE GLOBE ON 66 BUILDINGS, LOCATIONS @ https://KANYEWEST.COM" tweeted the 35-year-old.
You can check out the full song via fan-captured video on YouTube.
His website listed the locations and times of screenings in cities around the world. These ten cities included Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Toronto, New York, London, Paris, Berlin, and Sydney. For those living in the European and Australian locations, the viewings continue through Saturday and Sunday in many areas.
According to The Atlantic Wire, West made appearances at the New York showings. Tweets from fellow musicians chronicle his travels.
DJ Hyphen spoted the rapper at one of the buildings and tweeted, "Man, Yeezy just pulled some punk'd type shit. Watched behind us with his phone up like everyone filming then bounced quick. Keyser Soze."
According to Sohh, the new single, which comes form West's as yet untitled sixth album, harks back to College Dropout and has lyrics that revolve around the concepts of racism.
West has not released any further statements or tweets about the event, but you can catch him on the season finale of Saturday Night Live with this weeks host, Ben Affleck.
