'Avengers 2' Movie Updates; Cast Problems, Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch Added
Marvel's The Avengers 2 may not be set to premier until 2015, but fans are actively awaiting casting news.
According to IGN, director Joss Whedon is bringing in the sibling duo of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
"You know, they had a rough beginning," Whedon told IGN. "They're interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn't necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they're not there to make things easier. I'm not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier."
The news comes at a turbulent time for the film as rumors of casting problems have permeated the Internet. The main difficulty seems to revolve around the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark's Iron Man.
According to Screen Rant, Downey had a four film contract with the studio as Iron Man and with the release of Iron Man 3, that contract has since been fulfilled. However, the actor states that there are still some things he would like to do with the character.
If worse comes to worse, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told Screen Rant that they can just treat Iron Man like James Bond. He also echoed the same sentiment to EW when speaking of continuing the series after Downey is too old to play the part.
According to IGN, Chris Evans is still locked in with Marvel due to his Captain America contract, and Mark Ruffalo claims he is already signed up as the Hulk , according to various media reports.
Jeremy Renner on the other hand is even more likely to be re-cast, according to Slash Film. This idea stems mostly from the fact that he has very little involvement in Marvel phase two which will end with Avengers 2.
Lastly, there have been rumors of bringing the Black Panther into the second Avengers. However, according to Slash Films, this rumor flows from Marvels search for a shooting location in South Africa. The only connection between the two is that fact that the Black Panther's fictional country Wakanda.
Fans will have to wait a bit longer to see if any of their favorite characters wind up re-cast.
