Chris Brown: Death Threats Made Against the Singer, Called into His Lawyer's Office
Chris Brown reportedly received "multiple" death threats called in to the office of his attorney, which the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating.
Mark Geragos took the threats very seriously and immediately reported them to the LAPD, providing all them information he had on the calls.
Geragos recently defended Brown against angry neighbors who complained about the street art painted on the fence outside his Hollywood Hills home. Patti Negri, president of the Hollywood Dell neighborhood group, said the graffiti is scaring children, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"There are lots of babies, lots of children and they're literally frightened. It's like devils on the walls," Negri said.
Chris Brown's attorney slammed neighbors who demanded the singer remove the murals from his home. In response to the neighbors' complaints, Los Angeles code officials cited Brown as unpermitted and excessive signage. He was ordered to remove the art within 30 days. He faces fines that start at $376 and could increase if he fails to comply.
Geragos said the neighbors who are harassing Brown and the musician are not backing down.
"I'm scared of neighborhood busybodies like this," Geragos said. "They've called animal control. They have sicced parking [enforcement] on him, and now they reached the heights of ridiculousness here. Shame on them."
The attorney added that the city can expect a legal fight over Brown's personal artwork, which unwittingly thrust him into one of L.A.'s longest-running civic debates. Although the city is renowned as the street mural capital of the world, much of that artwork has been done illegally.
City ordinances make it illegal to create murals on the vast majority of private properties.
Brown has courted controversy ever since hiss 2009 assault of Rihanna. The two rekindled their on-again off-again relationship in recent months but have since split.
