'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' Cast News: Return of Original Franchise Stars Confirmed [VIDEO]
The fifth major installment in the highly popular Pirate of the Caribbean swashbuckler film series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, is reportedly going to be seeing the return of some familiar faces. The last installment in the franchise was absent these stars, but new reports are now revealing that they might be returning this time around.
The upcoming fantasy film, which is also known as Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge in the UK, is also confirmed to see the return of original cast members. As per Den of Geek, these include previous movie's main stars, namely Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Kevin McNally. The three will be playing their respective roles as Captain Jack Sparrow, Hector Barbossa and Joshamee Gibbs in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Previous reports regarding the new movie have also revealed that Orlando Bloom will be returning as Will Turner. It seems fitting that he return to the franchise, seeing as that the curse of Davy Jones only allows his character to step foot on land once every ten years.
Bloom's character was transformed into the captain of the Flying Dutchman at the end of 2007's At World's End and with the next movie set to be released next year, the ten year gap only serves to prove that life does sometimes imitate art.
As for the surprise character that will be returning, a report of Too Fab reveal that Bloom may once again be accompanied by his leading lady, Kiera Knightley, as she reprises her role as Elizabeth Swan. Like Bloom, Knightley was also absent in the previous installment.
However, reports have revealed that Knightley might just be appearing in a small cameo role, with the entire movie still focusing on Depp's character. Whatever the case may be, some fans are hoping that Bloom and Knightley's return will result in future installments once again focusing on their respective characters.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is scheduled to hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
