Since the Kevin Durant-Russell Westbrook Era, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the elite teams in the NBA. Since the 2008-2009 NBA season, the Thunder have a combined 394-246 win-loss record. But when Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors in the offseason, many were expecting the Thunder to be just an ordinary playoff team.

Now is the start of Russell Westbrook Era for the Thunder. And this season, the Thunder had a decent 16-12 win-loss record. They were second in the Northwest Division and seventh in the Western Conference.

Since Durant's departure, Russell Westbrook became a beast on the court as he became a triple-double machine. In 28 games with the Thunder this season, he is averaging 30.9 points, 10.5 rebounds and 10.9 assists, as per ESPN. He is first in scoring, second in assists and 13th in rebounds.

However for the Thunder to have a deeper playoff run, they need to have an additional scorer. Victor Oladipo has been the secondary scorer behind Westbrook with 16.1 points per game. But they need a third scorer who could put up buckets when Westbrook and Olapido were heavily-guarded.

And according to Fox Sports, OKC Thunder are interested in acquiring Sacramento Kings veteran Rudy Gay. Gay is in the final year of his contract. And he said that he will opt out of contract and test free agency.

Gay is a pure scorer as he is averaging 18.4 points in his career. And in 23 games with the Sacramento Kings this season, he is averaging 18.6 points on 45.5% from the field and 84.4% from the free-throw line.

If Gay will be traded for the Thunder, the team will be more dangerous offensively with Westbrook, Oladipo and Gay leading the scoring loads. Steven Adams, Enes Kanter and Andre Roberson will took care of defense.

Aside from that, Gay already expresses his disappointment about the Kings performance. So trading him would be a better for the Kings than to lose him in nothing next season.

Will Rudy Gay be traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder? Stay tuned for more NBA trade rumors and updates.
