NBA News: Orlando Magic Might Get Rudy Gay From The Sacramento Kings Before Trade Deadline [VIDEO]
The Orlando Magic are looking for a prolific scorer to end their misery on their slumping offense. And acquiring Rudy Gay from the Sacramento Kings could be the answer to their problem. As per latest report, a possible deal for both teams could happen before the trade deadline.
Gay has been a familiar figure on the rumor mills the past few months. Since last year, he already expressed his disappointment with the Kings failure to make to the postseason every year. He also voiced his frustration with how the Kings organization runs the team and pointed the current structure of their roster as the one of the main reason they fail to proceed in the playoffs.
And before the regular season starts, he already made known to the team that he will opt out of his contract. With this notion, rumors are saying that the Kings are seriously considering of trading him rather than lose him for nothing. Is a trade deal with the Magic a good option?
According to Forbes, a plausible deal between the Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings could do wonders for both of them. Trade scenario is suggesting that the Kings will send Rudy Gay to the Magic in exchange for Nikola Vucevic and Elfrid Payton. Some say that the deal brings in different benefits for both teams.
Having Gay could give the Kings an added scoring punch on the offensive side that they truly lack. Gay will inject big offensive firepower to the Magic with his 18.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this season. The Magic could also use Gay's veteran leadership to guide the young core of the team.
On the other hand, the Kings will also have an upgrade with the arrival of Vucevic and Payton. Vucevic can be a reliable backup for DeMarcus Cousins at the center spot or they can also slide down Cousins at the power forward to maximize him at that position. Meanwhile, they can develop Payton as their future playmaker that they also badly needed.
The trade will also work under NBA trade rules and salary cap restriction making it a legal deal for both teams as per checking with ESPN NBA Trade Machine.
