Nvidia has unveiled the Pascal-based Quadro P6000, and it's a less-powerful sibling of the Quadro P5000. The Quadro P6000 is built around the same GP102 GPU as Nvidia's current flagship consumer graphics cards, the TITAN X.

The GP102 at the heart of the P6000 is more powerful. According to HotHardware, in the TITAN X, a couple of streaming multiprocessors (or SMs) are disabled that results in fewer active CUDA cores in overall performance.

The TITAN X has 3,584 cores in total, compared to the P6000's 3,840. The Quadro P6000 also consist the double memory, 24GB vs. 12GB, though frequencies are similar. There are other differences and a different cooler is used on the Quadro, but architecturally the hardware is very similar.

If you check out the numbers then you will find that the Quadro P6000 and P5000 are among the best performing professional GPUs in the market. With less demanding total workloads, more affordable products like AMD's Radeon Pro WX 7100 can occasionally pull ahead, but when it comes to the additional memory and cores of the P6000, it has huge advantages. With SPECviewperf's Energy viewset, for example, the P6000 is 6x faster than the WX 7100, reports Forbes.

The card features the highest capacity on Pascal cards with 24 GB of GDDR5X VRAM. The memory is clocked at 9.0 GB/s along a 384-bit bus and the total memory bandwidth on the card is 432 GB/s which is impressive as it is achieved using GDDR5X standard. The card has a rated TDP of 250W which is also lower than the 300W on the Tesla P100.

While the professional graphics workloads will no doubt be of interest to the data analysts and content creators. Forbes also included a few gaming-related metrics to get a potential glimpse at what a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti could do with a fully-enabled GP102.

NVIDIA's Quadro products are targeted at the professional market and aren't meant for gamers, so it will not make much sense to run gaming benchmarks on a multi-thousand dollar product like the P6000. But as numbers show, the card easily outpaces even the mighty TITAN X.
