Betty White Alive: Fan Starts GoFundMe Page To Protect Actress For Rest Of 2016 [VIDEO]
Following a four-day span which saw the deaths of more legends in George Michael, Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds, one Betty White fan has officially taken action in an attempt to try and make sure 2016 does not also take the 94-year-old actress before it officially ends this weekend.
A man from South Carolina named Demetrios Hrysikos has started a GoFundMe page to make sure that 2016 does not also take Betty White, after it took so many legends in its nearly 366-day span-and as of press time, he has nearly reached his goal of $10,000 with a total number of donations topping at $6,480 thus far.
"Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty Whiter! If she's okay with it I will fly to wherever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan. 1, 2017," he explains in the campaign summary.
However, the campaign also serves a dual-purpose, as Hrysikos seems to suggest that White likely doesn't want his help.
"Now, assuming she doesn't want a strange Greek standing guard outside her door all monies will be donated to the Spartanburg little theater to help craft new stars of stage and screen to carry mantle of the legends that have left us this year," he also wrote.
Hrysikos isn't the only one who has been concerned about White's making it through to the end of the year however, as her name began trending on social media after news of Fisher's death broke on Dec. 27, with concern over her making it through the end of the year rising at a fever pitch.
Even if she does make it to 2017 (there has been no indication that White's health or safety are in jeopardy to prevent it from happening), 2016 will likely go down as the year that saw so many legends in entertainment pass away.
The year started with upset over the deaths of David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Glenn Frey in January. By mid-year, the list of legends who had passed also included Merle Haggard, Doris Roberts, Prince, Morley Safer and Muhammad Ali. Since then, it has grown seemingly exponentially, with Garry Marshall, Gene Wilder, Arnold Palmer, Leonard Cohen, Florence Henderson, John Glenn, Alan Thicke, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Michael, Fisher and Reynolds all being added to the list.
