Lindsay Lohan Kicks Off Comeback on Today Show
Actress Lindsay Lohan has started making a comeback, and sat down with Matt Lauer on the Today show in the anticipated interview five years in the making. She talk about making changes, getting back into acting, and the future.
"I've learned how to live my life in a way that I'm happy and I can do the things that I want to do," she said. "I think it's this recent whirlwind of experiences that I've gone through this past year and a half. I've kind of just taken a step back and I'm not doing what I love to do and I need to find that balance again."
Lohan confirmed she will be playing Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime biopic, and promised not to let anyone down. "It starts when she's in Cleopatra. We start production soon. I've been doing tons of research. I'm really honored." Lohan also realizes that this role is her first step on a long comeback path. "I could see where it could be scary for people to invest in me and I don't want people to have that reason and be scared anymore. I'm going to do what I'm supposed to do. I will not let anyone down - especially myself."
The starlet is also appearing in Saturday Night Live this weekend, and is using the opportunity to give everyone a few laughs. "If I'm going to do a sketch about [my past legal issues], this is the place to do it. SNL is where you're actually OK to do that," she said, confirming that the sketches have all been approved by her legal team. "I spoke to my attorney, I didn't want to be disrespectful to my judge ... because I want to be in the clear. I'm so close. We'll see if we can write them the right way, I want to poke fun at myself."
When Matt asked her about how she's continuing to thrive, she says her amazing team of healthy friends and colleagues along with her supportive family is the key. With their help, she aspires to be back on top.
"[Five years from now], hopefully I'll have just come from The Oscars. I just want to work. I like being on set. I like doing this kind of stuff and having positive things to talk about and I lost sight of that. I lost track of looking at myself in the mirror. [But now] I've learned to love myself and I think that's very important."
