NBA News: Los Angeles Lakers Might Pursue DeMarcus Cousins As The Trade Deadline Nears [VIDEO]
The Los Angeles Lakers look to be in disarray as of late. Having lost 8 out of 10 last games, they currently hold a 13-26 win-loss record and sitting at the 12th spot in the Western Conference division. Recent reports are now saying that they might pursue DeMarcus Cousins as the NBA trade deadline nears to turn around their luck.
Cousins have been one of the regular names in the rumor mills since last year. He's been linked to numerous trade deals being a high-caliber player who is believed to be not happy with the Sacramento Kings. He is also been very vocal about his disappointment with how the Kings management runs the team and not changing the structure of their roster to make it competitive.
On the other hand, the Lakers have a solid start at the early going of the regular season. But now, they find themselves sliding down the standing with consecutive losses and might not make it to the playoffs if they won't make a move. Reports are now suggesting that getting Cousins could be a viable option for them to get back on track.
According to FOXSports, the Los Angeles Lakers was previously linked to DeMarcus Cousins but the supposed deal never happen. This time around, a new proposed deal might be the reasonable consideration for the Lakers and Kings. Trade scenario is saying that the Lakers will receive DeMarcus Cousins and will send Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle and Nick Young to the Kings.
The trade will give each team equal benefits looking closing on it. Having Cousins will sure give the Lakers one of the most dominating centers in the league today who is producing imposing numbers of 28.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Cousins will also offer a threat inside the paint and can pass the ball to open shooters like D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Lou Williams.
Meanwhile, the Kings will acquire two young talented players who have the potential to become superstars someday plus a veteran who is proven scorer. They can use Ingram and Randle as part of their rebuilding for the future while Young will provide experience to the young core of the team.
The trade would also satisfy NBA trade and salary cap rules making it a legal deal for both teams involved as per checking with ESPN NBA Trade Machine. It is now in the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers if they are serious about pursuing DeMarcus Cousins as the NBA trade deadline nears.
