Joseph Gordon-Levitt's racy directorial debut Don Jon is being previewed in its first trailer released on Wednesday.

The film was first screened in January at the Sundance Film Festival under the name Don Jon's Addiction. The three-minute trailer, which premiered exclusively on Apple's movie trailer website, begins with an introduction from Gordon-Levitt saying that he's proud of the film, which he wrote and directed himself.

After the introduction, Gordon-Levitt's character Don Jon reveals through narration all the things he cares about in life: "My body, my pad, my ride, my family, my church, my boys, my girls, my porn."

According to the film's synopsis, Gordon-Levitt plays Jon Martello, a "strong, handsome, good old-fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to 'pull' a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn't compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography."

Scarlett Johansson plays Barbara Sugarman, a "bright, beautiful, good old-fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she's determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset."

Over the course of the film, the characters meet and are at odds with each other as a result of their own expectations of true love, most of which are perpetuated by the media.

In an interview with The Huffington Post back in March, Gordon-Levitt revealed his intentions behind the film.

He told the publication: "I thought the idea of a guy, who watches too much pornography and a young woman, who watches too many romantic Hollywood movies, was a hilarious way to ask the question: How do the different kinds of media we consume impact our lives and our love lives?"

In addition to Gordon-Levitt and Johansson, Don Jon also stars Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Glenne Headly and Brie Larson. The is set for release in theaters on Oct. 18, 2013.
