Brad Pitt may have met you, but he won't be able to remember who you are.

It may sound like a case of an overgrown ego, but in fact it may be a medical condition. The 49-year-old actor admitted to the problem in a recent interview with Esquire.

"So many people hate me because they think I'm disrespecting them," Pitt told the magazine. "You get this thing, like, 'You're being egotistical. You're being conceited.'"

However, Pitt says he wants to get tested for prosopagnosia. The condition is also referred to as "face blindness" and results in the sufferer not being able to recognize faces, according to the Prosopagnosia Research Center.

The actor feels uncomfortable when he is unable to recall not only where he knows a person from, but also who they even are, according to the interview. For a while he tried just admitting to the person that he could not recall who they were, but the plan backfired.

"I took one year where I just said, This year, I'm just going to cop to it and say to people, 'Okay, where did we meet?' But it just got worse," the actor admitted to Esquire. "People were more offended. Every now and then, someone will give me context, and I'll say, 'Thank you for helping me.' But I piss more people off."

While Pitt claims he tries to spend more time at home in order to avoid such awkward confrontations, his job and his fame requires him to engage with large numbers of people.

Perhaps now that he has gone public with the issue, more people will be sensitive to the problem.
