Nintendo Switch News: Hybrid Console With Lots Of Hidden Costs; Will it Be Worth It? [VIDEO]
Avid fans of the Japanese tech giant has been eagerly waiting for its Nintendo Switch to hit the market shelves. Now, it seems that they have to shell out more money than expected as the hybrid console seems to have a lot of hidden costs.
According to Forbes, there have been issues about the Nintendo Switch one of which is that it is priced at $300 while a lot of patrons were expecting that it might be tagged at $250. Nevertheless, it still makes sense that in the current market with the functionality of the Switch, $300 would be a pretty reasonable price. But with that said, the more its fans are learning about the Switch, the more Nintendo is extending that price. The $300 comes with the Nintendo Switch and nothing else.
Furthermore, iTechPost has itemized the accessories that the consumers will have to buy for its Nintendo Switch. It was noted that Joy-Cons slide into both the Nintendo Switch screen component. And these are obviously charging when they are plugged into the Switch tablet screen, but not the grip controller that comes together with the system. So still the users will have to buy a separate amount charging the grip for $30 that charges the Joy-Cons. If users don't want yo buy this, they will have to plug them into the Switch tablet every time.
The Nintendo Switch's Pro Controller when compared to previous controllers has been promoted up front being pretty core to the experience. For many games, the Joy-Con grip controller seems like a more conventionally shaped but the Pro Controller is not. With this, it is a favored alternative for playing in tablet mode and at home. The owners will have to buy it at a cost of $70 because it is not included in the box when you buy the Nintendo Switch.
An extra Joy-Con, are valued as $80 per pair, or at least $50 separately for left and right versions. With this, it seems that playing with more than 2 players is going to be more costly than ever. But then, the gamers have options like either buy an extra Pro Controller that costs $70 each or to play using the 4 Joy-Cons, which is cheaper, but still an extra cost of $80 with everyone just using one-half of a Joy-Con set.
Last but not the least, the owners of Nintendo Switch will have to shell out $90 for another switch dock. This item is deliberated as a luxury one in contrast with the above-mentioned accessories. But for a system where the goal is flexibility, transferring from TV to another TV isn't going to be a cheaper move. With this accessory, users could move the entire docking system like they would in a normal console, but for the comfort of just moving the tablet will cost a $90 for a new dock.
With these above-mentioned accessories needed for the Nintendo Switch, it really seems that its buyers will shell out more money. But then if it's really worth it, only its patrons could decide.
