High school student Jake Davidson became a YouTube star after he boldly asked super model Kate Upton to become his date for school prom.

Though he failed to win Upton, he landed a great consolation prize.

The 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue’s Rookie of the Year model, Nina Agdal, went with Davidson to his high school prom in Sherman Oaks, Calif. on Thursday. The 21-year-old Danish model wore a sea foam green satin halter dress with a soft drape in the front. Agdal then tweeted the YouTube star a note of thanks for taking her to the prom Thursday night.

“Had such a great prom night,” Agdal wrote on Twitter. “Thank you @jakedavidson23 for being an awesome date."

Davidson also revealed he enjoyed his time with the model.

“This prom has been incredible,” Jake said, according to The Hollywood Gossip. “Nina Agdal is like so down to earth. Really cool, really nice. It was a great day. I really enjoyed it.”

Davidson’s mother revealed how her son landed the top model to become his prom date. Cheryl Davidson said Agdal told her son, “If Kate can’t go, I’d like to go’ because she never got to go to her prom.”

Agdal is close to achieving the same success as Upton - she also has her own Carl’s Jr. Burger commercial and has appeared in a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
