Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Katy Perry Encouraged Break Up?
Katy Perry did not approve of Robert Pattinson's relationship with Kristen Stewart and encouraged the Twilight hunk to dump his co-star, Life & Style reported in their current issue.
A source told the magazine that the Wide Awake singer never supported Pattinson's relationship with Stewart after she cheated on him in the summer of 2012. Stewart publicly admitted that she cheated on Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Stewart issued a statement and apologized for the hurt she caused Pattison.
"Katy told Rob she didn't think their relationship could withstand the cheating scandal," an insider said. "And he deserved better than someone who would destroy a family [like Rupert's]."
The source added that Perry supported Pattinson after he decided to break up with Stewart following his 27th birthday. PEOPLE reported on May 18 that the Twilight co-stars decided to split after weeks of rumors that the two were having trouble in their romance. The news comes on the heels of Pattinson blowing a birthday celebration Stewart had planned for him.
"I know he always leans on her during hard times, and Katy would do anything for him," the source said.
The source also alleged that Perry's first loyalty was always to Pattinson. Perry and Stewart appeared together at Kids' Choice Awards in March, but Perry was secretly trying to convince Pattinson to break off the rekindled relationship.
"Katy never really supported Rob's decision to get back with Kristen," the source said. "She liked Kristen, but ultimately she's loyal to Rob and wants what's best for him."
The Sun reported on Tuesday that Pattinson reached his breaking point after discovering text messages from Sanders on Stewart's phone. Pattinson was furious that Stewart would have any contact with the director after the hurt he caused. Furthermore, Pattinson was described as not caring if the contact between the two was innocent.
"Despite Kristen's pleas, he told her not to come to his birthday party at a friend's that night. He's extremely angry and upset," the source said. "No matter how many times she calls or texts, friends say he's had enough."
