GoPro Karma Drone News: Crashed Drones Still Under Recall, Improved Karma Drone To Fly Again Soon [Video]
Good news for the Karma Drone owners or buyers, GoPro Karma Drone is now scheduled for renewal from its disastrous recall late last year. The company has revealed that they will be launching again the device very soon.
GoPro Inc. has announced this replacement schedule in a recently released statement. The statement also discuss about the future plans of their company and their products.
The GoPro Karma Drone was originally unveiled in September 2016 and was marketed for a low-priced of just $799. The drone then reigned over the whole drone outlet, but its power was unluckily shortened.
There were mechanical and battery problems that eventually let the company in releasing a recall of all sold drones. The company formally then, circulated a recall for all the 2,500 units that were sold, reports Digital Trends.
The issue on the GoPro Karma Drone was located to be a mechanical issue that was concerning the placement of the battery that caused the drone to instantly shutdown. The company has exposed that the issue was easily fixed, but since they had already released it, it may have already been too late.
Following several lawsuits and the dropping of their stock prices, the company was forced to dismiss 15 percent of their workforce. Regardless of the challenges, GoPro Inc. has now announced that they are set to spring back up this year with the re-release of the Go Pro Karma Drone, as per The Verge.
Replacing only the Karma Core enables drone pilots to fly again up for just $399. It is, however, 50 percent the price of the Karma packaged with a GoPro Hero5 Black.
In addition to the Core, GoPro tender replacement parts for mending crashed landing gear, arms, propellers, and camera controls. GoPro has confirmed that the re-releasing of Karma will be revealed in early February.
The GoPro website still has the Karma Drone as "coming soon." The Drone itself will still cost $799.99. On the other hand, the GoPro Hero 5 camera and drone package retails at $1,239. The Drone is compatible with different GoPro cameras that include the GoPro Hero 5 Black, Hero 5 Session and Hero 4 Black/Silver.
