AMD Radeon Pro WX 5100 And WX 4100 Review: Professional Workstation Graphics Cards Specs And Features Detailed [VIDEO]
Way back in July last year, AMD primarily launched its Polaris-based Radeon Pro WX-series of professional workstation graphics cards during the SIGGRAPH event and two of which are the AMD Radeon Pro WX 5100 and WX 4100 AMD. The American multinational company also revealed that all of the cards would be built and sold by AMD solely.
Forbes has learned that the Radeon Pro WX 5100 GPU is the chipset intended for the product development. Meanwhile, the Radeon Pro WX 4100 GPU is made for half-height designs, and it also targets CAD professionals having a small form factor (SFF) workplaces.
When it comes with the specs, Hot Hardware noted that the Radeon Pro WX 5100 boasts 28 active compute units, for a total of 1792 stream processors. This chipset has a typical clock of 713MHz, but can be boosted up to 1086MHz and it also delivers roughly 3.9 TFLOPS of compute performance. This GPU is linked to 8GB of GDDR5 memory (5Gbps) over a 256-bit interface and offers up to 160GB/s of bandwidth.
The WX 5100 card has a full-height / single-slot design which sports that deep blue fan covering. It also has a quartet of full-sized DisplayPort outputs. Avid fans of the company should keep in mind that there is no power connector on the Radeon Pro WX 5100. The GPU's typical board power is below 75W which indicated that the power delivered by the expansion slot is sufficient.
Meanwhile, the Radeon Pro WX 4100 is armed with 16 active compute units with a total of 1024 stream processors. This GPU on the card has a usual engine clock at 1125MHz which is much higher than the WX 5100. Om the other hand, it has a peak frequency of 1201MHz. With those clocks, the graphics card delivers roughly 2.4 TFLOPs of compute performance.
The Radeon Pro WX 4100 is also equipped with GDDR5 memory with an operational data rate of 5Gbps. But then it is only packing 4GB that is coupled by a 128-bit memory interface. With this, its highest memory bandwidth is lower as well, at about 96GB/s.
These are the features that the AMD Radeon Pro WX 5100 and Radeon Pro WX 4100 professional workstation GPU has. Since these cards are exclusively built and sold by AMD; the buyers of these GPUs will have 10-year warranties that will be partnered with 24/7 VIP support.
