Leonardo DiCaprio is planning on staying in front of the camera for now.

The Great Gatsby star may have mulled over the idea of directing before, but the actor recently told GQ Australia that it may not be the best idea for him.

"I've been talking about [directing] a lot," DiCaprio told the magazine, according to Access Hollywood. ""But I'm still not sure I'm going to do it. When you're a director you have so many different elements you need to be in control of."

However, DiCaprio has not shied away from producing. With 14 titles under his belt, The Wolf of Wall Street actor has proved he is capable of managing more than just himself.

"You never know," DiCaprio said of jumping behind the camera. "I might give it a try. Because it does seem fun."

As an actor, DiCaprio can spend his time completely focusing on just his role, making sure he can depict his character as best as he can. However, as a director, the 38-year-old feels there would be so many details to cater too and fears he may become far too obsessive.

"I get very obsessive when I do movies and it encompasses my life," said DiCaprio. "And I don't know how I'd react to 200 different people asking me questions. I might spiral off into some other dimension of obsessiveness. For now, playing the character and being responsible for myself is what I'm doing."

Several months ago DiCaprio announced he would be taking a short break from acting to focus on environmentalism. Currently he is not listed as starting work on any upcoming projects.

"To me, right now it's about getting a little breather -- getting some time off," DiCaprio said, according to Us Weekly. "Not a permanent break or not an indefinite period, but you know, just a few months off to do some other things."
