Amanda Bynes Threatens to Sue NYPD But Officers Deny Sexual Assault of Arrested Actress
Amanda Bynes was not groped by police officers, the New York Police Department said Tuesday.
Bynes claimed that she was sexually assaulted during her May 23 arrest for allegedly throwing a bong out of the window of her West 47th Street apartment in New York. The former Nickelodeon star took to Twitter on May 25 to allege that officers had acted inappropriately.
"I was sexually harassed by one of the cops the night before last which is who then arrested me. He lied and said I threw a bong out the window when I opened the window for fresh air. Hilarious. He slapped my vagina. Sexual harassment. Big deal," she tweeted.
Bynes' continued her rant by insisting that she was the one to call the police on the officer. She then claimed that she was sent to a mental hospital for no reason and called the action "offensive". She also denied the pending charges against her.
"The cops were creepy. The cop sexually harassed me, they found no pot on me or bong outside my window. That's why the judge let me go. Don't believe any reports," Bynes continued.
The NYPD released a statement and disputed her version of events. They said that Internal Affairs investigators found no evidence to corroborate Bynes' allegations.
"To the contrary, a credible civilian witness who was with the officers throughout told investigators that none touched Ms. Bynes inappropriately or otherwise engaged in misconduct at any time," the statement read.
Bynes has not yet tweeted about the NYPD's response to her allegations but she did promise to sue the department on Monday. The 27-year-old alleged that drugs were planted on her and that she was the victim of a conspiracy.
"I'm suing NYPD for illegally entering my apartment, lying about drugs on me and lying about me tampering with non existent drug paraphernalia, then I'm suing for being put into a mental hospital against my will," Bynes declared.
Bynes also promised to sue any other party who participated in her arrest. She then expressed her desire to change her occupation. The retired actress said that she had plans to become a singer/rapper.
"I'm also suing my apartment complex for lying about me smoking in my building. I'm free forever! You can't lock up an innocent person! Thanks for caring! Look forward to seeing me in music videos!" she said.
