LG G6 Release Date, News & Update: Flagship Confirmed To Go On Sale March 9, Coming In US On April 7 [Video]
LG G6 is all set to release at a pre-event on February 26 ahead of MWC 2017. The South Korean tech giant after a 'save the date' confirmation for the event has now started sending official media invitations for its February 26 event. With all the talk of LG, you'd expect LG to at least scramble to launch its next flagship sooner than its main rival.
A latest report says that while the G6 will launch significantly earlier than the S8's projected April 21 release date, it will only be true for the South Korean market. The LG G6, there, is apparently going to be in stores on March 9, giving it almost six weeks of availability before the Galaxy S8 hits the streets. However reports are saying that the LG G6 will be available in US from April only, according to GSM Arena.
Waiting for the launch until April in the United States will almost completely eliminate any early advantage. In the US, the LG G6 will arrive on April 7, and that means it will have just two weeks to make a dent over there before the Galaxy S8. If this pan out then you probably shouldn't expect the LG G6 to break any sales records in North America on the whole, reports CNET.
LG had previously announced that it would reveal something in Barcelona this. So, LG G6 is the most probable device to launch on February 26, which is a day ahead of this year's Mobile World Congress expo.
The LG G6 is rumored to feature a 5.7-inch display with a minimal bezel surrounding it. However, the G6 might bring a fresh design with much narrower bezels than previous LG phones, as per the leaked images obtained by UnderKG.
LG G6 front panel might features slim blue bezels at the top and bottom. Plus, the back could have a brushed metal finish with dual rear cameras and a fingerprint sensor. The device will be surrounded by a metal frame with chamfered edges similar to that on the iPhone 5s.
LG G6 is once again said to have IP68 certification for water and dust resistance features, along with a full metal body. It's also expected to be slightly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S8.
