Zayn Malik's mother joined Twitter recently in an effort to defend her son against hurtful comments about his religion and ethnicity, according to One News.

The One Direction singer has reportedly been slammed by users on the social media website, with many negative messages directed at him because of his Asian ethnicity and Muslim religion. Tracia Malik, 41, took it upon herself to defend her son, and opened an account on site in an effort to do just that.

She responded to one user, "Hope you're happy now that zayn noticed your tweet !! you can't even imagine how it made him upset you psyco X- (sic)"

She revealed on Twitter that Zayn abandoned his own account recently because of the abuse directed toward him from users. She told one fan, "It wasnt even zayn who tweeted the 3 last tweets it was management. & i cant force him to login twitter if he doesnt want X- (sic)"

In another tweet, Tracia defended her son against religious hatred, writing, "#iGetAnnoyedWhenPeople call zayn a terrorist just because he's muslim. being muslim doesnt mean you're a terrorit X- (sic)"
