Although there's still a considerable amount of time left until its fall return, CW's The Vampire Diaries is currently in deep preparation mode for its highly anticipated fifth season.

While most of the popular TV series' fans are expecting it to be stellar, executive producer Julie Plec took their expectations a step further, proclaiming it to be its best installment yet.

The EP recently spoke to TV Guide and addressed what the future holds for Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), including the struggles he'll face coping with his "humanity."

"Jeremy will not have a very easy time of it. His first big hurdle is his cover story being suddenly alive. So he'll struggle a bit with the return to the normal world," she explained.

Jeremy will also have to deal with the task of keeping Bonnie's (Kat Graham) ghost a secret from the rest of Mystic Falls, which will serve to further complicate things for him.

"I think she [Bonnie] was pretty clear about Jeremy wanting to keep her secret so I guess we'll see how long he's willing to do that. The predicament for Bonnie is that she's on the other side so she can pop in and see what's up and who's doing what," Plec said.

Although no airdate has yet to be announced, Vampire Diaries Season 5 is slated to begin in September. Its spin-off series, The Originals, is set to relaunch at some point in October.
