Nintendo Switch vs. New 3DS XL vs. Wii U: Specs, Features Detailed; Hybrid Console Confirmed To Co-exist With Nintendo 3DS [VIDEO]
The Nintendo Switch will be arriving on market shelves next month but for now, here's a comparison between the New Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo Wii U and the hybrid console. Also, Nintendo Switch is confirmed to co-exist with the Nintendo 3DS.
Digital Trends has made a keen comparison of the Nintendo Switch and its siblings Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo Wii U's performances. Starting from the hybrid console, this device has a dimension of4 x 9.4 x .55 inch and weighs 398 grams with Joy-Cons attached. Nintendo switch boasts a 6.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 720 for portable and 1920 x 1080 for the console. It is equipped with Nvidia customized Tegra processor paired with 32GB memory that can be further expanded through Micro SDXC.
The Nintendo 3DS XL, on the other hand, has a dimension of 3.69 x 6.3 x .85 in (closed) and weighs 329 g. It has a 4.8-inch upper display and 4.18-inch touchscreen in the lower part with 800 x 240 resolution. The 3DS XL is armed with 804 MHz ARM11 MPCore quad-core processor paired with 4x VFPv2 Co-Processor and 4GB microSD which is replaceable.
Last but not the least, the Nintendo Wii U sports a dimension of 5.3-inch × 10.2 in × 0.9-inch and it weighs 491 grams with the gamepad. It as a 6.2 in touchscreen display with 854 x 480 resolution on gamepad and 1920 x 720 resolution on the console. The Wii U is equipped with IBM Power-based multi-core processor that is coupled with AMD Radeon-based high definition and 32GB flash that is expandable via external HDD.
In other news, PC Magazine has learned that Tatsumi Kimishima, President of Nintendo, and Shinya Takahashi, General Manager of the Entertainment Planning & Development Division at Nintendo confirmed that Nintendo Switch will unavoidably contend with the Nintendo 3DS as gamer's gaming travel buddy. But then, they also believe that these two devices can opportunely co-exist.
With this, it really seems that the Japanese tech giant wanted the Nintendo Switch will target the teenager and adult gamers. On the other hand, the Nintendo 3DS becomes the handheld device that will cater the interest of children and parents that are used to purchasing Nintendo products.
With the specs and features of Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo Wii U the consumers could definitely choose which one is suited to their needs. Also, the Nintendo Switch will become available on March 3 that will co-exist with the Nintendo 3DS.
